In April 2016, beaver #15-1914 was released back to the wild, after a lengthy stay at the Wildlife Center. The two-year-old male beaver was likely injured in a beaver attack, as he was searching to establish his own territory. Now he has a stretch of river to call his own!

This juvenile male beaver was admitted to the Center in 2015 with multiple lacerations on his back. In October 2015, he was healed enough to move outside. Here are is first steps in his outdoor enclosure. The beaver will likely need to be overwintered, and will be released in the spring of 2016.

Beaver #15-1914 was admitted to the Center in late August after he was found injured, with multiple deep lacerations on his back. In mid-October, the wounds were finally healed and the beaver was allowed to have a swimming tub. Here's the beaver checking out the tub and getting in for the first time!

On Dec. 4, the SPCA Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center rescued an injured and emaciated beaver. The beaver was successfully rehabilitated was released back into the wild Monday evening. (Video from The SPCA of Monterey County.)
This day old orphan beaver kit enjoys some social "grooming". He was found in someone's yard. An exhaustive search and waiting as long as possible turned up no mom. He'll be transferred shortly to another facility skilled in beaver rehab. The long stick looking thing you can see in the video is actually the umbilical cord.
