At his first Pioneers Palace tournament (March 1974) Kasparov, at the age of 10, beat Averbakh in the clock simul. Subsequently this photo by Boris Dolmatovsky was published in "Sovetskoe Foto".
Bugojno, Yugoslavia, 15th May 1982. In the 6th round of the international tournament, Garry Kasparov faces Tigran Petrosian; he defeated the ex-World Champion in only 24 moves, on his way to taking clear 1st place in the event.
