In Lockdown, France Says Pots and Pans Are Essential—but Not Silverware
PARIS—French supermarkets are still selling pajamas for children under four years old. Clothes aisles for older kids are cordoned off. You can buy pots and pans, but silverware—classified as table decoration—is restricted. Computers remain on store shelves. Gaming consoles don’t.
Newspapers? Yes. The books section? Off limits.
An effort by the government to spread the pain of France’s second coronavirus lockdown more fairly among the nation’s retailers has forced supermarkets, which have stayed open, to limit the sale of nonessentials. The move has angered big chains and given little comfort to small businesses, which are fighting to get all retail restrictions lifted.
“It’s very French, and very stupid,” said Michel-Edouard Leclerc, president of the French retailer E. Leclerc, a large chain of supermarkets that scrambled to comply with the new rules. “We had a problem and extended it to everyone.”

The French government has ordered retailers of anything but essential items to shut their doors, except for “click-and-collect” sales. The government earlier this week also started limiting larger stores that remain open, like supermarkets, from selling nonessentials. French officials said the restrictions would keep bigger retailers from taking advantage of the lockdown and stealing market share from smaller stores.
The new round of pandemic restrictions is rolling out just before the end-of-year holidays, a critical time for retailers big and small. When France first announced its new lockdown measures, it allowed the country’s “hypermarkets”—large stores like Leclerq that sell everything from broccoli to books and barbecues—to stay open and sell nonessentials, because they also sell food.
Booksellers, toy stores and clothing boutiques complained, and the government of President Emmanuel Macron ordered the big retailers to stop selling nonessential items as well. Stores have since rushed to block off aisles or cover shelves with plastic sheets. Lawyers have parsed the government decree to determine what is essential and nonessential.
Both sides say the measures are helping online retailers, like Amazon.com Inc., that aren’t prohibited from selling anything.

...The fear now is that as emergency responders themselves fall sick and worsen the shortage, more lives will be lost.
“We took the brunt of the new coronavirus infection,” said Grigory Bobinov, a doctor working with an ambulance brigade and representative for Action, a health-care workers’ union. “Staff is now sick…which leads to a catastrophic shortage of emergency medical personnel.”
Russian law stipulates that emergency medical help should arrive within 20 minutes when the circumstances are critical and within two hours when there is no threat to the patient’s life. The average waiting time for an ambulance in the Moscow region currently is 24 hours, according to trade unions representing health-care workers, and the situation is similarly dire in many other parts of the vast country. |
Paramedics and ambulance doctors are working 20 to 40 hours more than the 40 hours a week they should be working, Dr. Bobinov said.
“People are exhausted at work,” he said. “They came to the epidemic already extremely tired. They are chronically sleep deprived. There’s emotional burnout. Professional burnout is typical under normal circumstances and has intensified during the epidemic.” |

Скоро Нью-Йорк обойдет Алабама. Что касается смертей на единицу населения, то Луизиана обошла уже Роуд-Айленд. Думаю, к ноябрю обойдет Коннектикут и Массачусетс. А вот обойти Нью-Йорк и Нью-Джерси будет сложно. |
По числу случаев на душу населения ситуация уже полностью поменялась.
А вот по числу смертей на душу населения пока лидерство медленно меняется. Луизиана все никак не сумеет обойти Коннектикут, хотя постепенно приближается. Она чуть-чуть притормозила, а Коннектикут, чуть-чуть поднажал и они теперь очень медленно сближаются. А вот Миссисипи наконец удалось обойти шедший на пятой позиции Роуд Айленд. Это, конечно, большое достижение, так как в Миссисипи было очень небольшое распространение ковида весной, когда было мало тестов, никто не знал как лечить и т.д. Но тем не менее за счет лета и осени удалось догнать. |

Странно. Летом 2019 года на ебее было много советских противогазов. Писали, что тогда откыли старые советские склады в Латвии и Украине и их продавали. Наверно, тогда не считалось незаконным ни там, ни там. |

US on track to smash record for COVID-19 hospitalizations
The United States is on track to break the record for COVID-19 hospitalizations, with the 7-day average of coronavirus deaths up 36% over the last three weeks, according to The Covid Tracking Project.
Over 102,500 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Sunday alone, up 8.2% in the last week, outpacing the 6.2% increase in new tests. The numbers exclude California, which has not reported data for the weekend.
At least 56,768 people are currently hospitalized with complications from COVID-19, an increase of 10,000 since October 30. Over 11,100 people are in intensive-care, with just under 3,000 on ventilators.
"At this rate, we'll see a record number of hospitalizations in just a few days," The Covid Tracking Project said on Twitter. |

Они уже стартовали производство, не дожидаясь одобрения. В Бельгии. Месяц назад писали, что произведено несколько сотен тысяч доз. Уже в этом году собираются произвести 100 миллионов доз, из которых 40 миллионов для Британии (нужно делить на 2, чтоб получить число вакцинированных, каждому нужны две дозы)
А в следующем году планируют произвести 1,3 млрд доз.

Я уже вроде говорил, что проплатили вперёд нескольким компаниям. Указанная цена не розничная, поэтому при вакцинации могут ещё брать деньги, но я уверен, что для всех, кому страховка по каким-то причинам не покроет, будет какая-то бесплатная опция. |

| Чтобы такую вакцину хранить и распространять в требуемом количестве, надо строить огромную мировую инфраструктуру. Я не знаю, в какого типа морозильниках поддерживают такую температуру и транспортируют требующие такой заморозки препараты, но явно в настоящее время такая аппаратура должна быть редкой и дорогой - просто потому, что в ней до сих пор не было массовой нужды. |
